6 Months Old and a Visit from Grandma!

It's hard to believe my baby is six months old now. It feels like it was only a short while ago that I was pregnant yet somehow he's already six months old. He is a BIG six month old too. Unlike Kristen who was a peanut her entire first year, Timmy is HUGE. Kristen calls him Timmy Big. He had his 6 month appointment and weighed in at 20 pounds 12 ounces. This put him in the 85th-90th percentile for weight, which is pretty big. But his length, oh boy do we have a big one. He was 29 inches long. The doctor said he was off the charts, way off the charts. It's just such a huge change from Kristen as a baby that I can't help but marvel about how big and healthy my boy is. He actually weighs more now than Kristen did at 12 months!

Here is a picture of my big boy on his half birthday.
Napping in his crib, this is a big deal, trust me.

Last week we also enjoyed a visit from Grandma Robin. Kristen was thrilled to spend some quality time with her out of town Grandma and Timmy just soaked up the love. Have I mentioned Timmy is a big cuddlebug, he loves to cuddle. Mike and I weren't very good about taking pictures during her visit, but we did get a few taken just a few hours before we had to drop her off at the airport to go home. We love you Grandma Robin, thank you for coming to visit!

Laughing Baby

There really isn't much cuter than a laughing baby. Please forgive the wild camera work, Mike was holding the camera with one hand and the dog with the other!

Oops, it's been awhile

I'm sorry I haven't been very good at keeping up with the blog lately. I promise I will try and do better. We have had a pretty easy few weeks, nothing too spectacular going on. Timmy sits up pretty well now. He can't put himself in a sit, but if we sit him up he stays up for a little while before losing his balance. Kristen is constantly amazing me with how much she is learning. Mike and I have been working with her on her colors and numbers and she is doing great. Out of the blue she counted to twenty! I haven't managed to get her to repeat that feat though, so who knows if it's something she can do on a regular basis.

I am happy to report that Timothy is finally sleeping in his crib! His crib was recalled and it has taken a very long time for the replacement part to come in. Because of this he has been in his bassinet all the way until this past Monday. He was getting very smushed in there. Thankfully, the parts finally arrived and we were able to get it set up Monday. The transition was very easy. He looks so much more comfortable now that he has room to spread out.

I'll leave you with some of my favorite pictures from the last few weeks and a cute video of Kristen waking up from a nap.

I love this picture! I can't believe how much my sweethearts resemble each other.
Beautiful Kristen
My dad is a Leap Year baby. He turned 65 this year and we had a little family party at Pizza Hut. You can see the birthday boy in the background wearing a goofy hat.

We've been busy

I'm sorry for the lack of updates lately, it has been very busy in the Cole household. We are selling our house so we have been super busy getting it ready to be put on the market. Fortunately, we are mostly there and now it's just a matter of somehow maintaining it with a toddler and baby in the house.

The babies are doing great. Kristen is busy learning her colors and counting now that she has the alphabet down. She's also very busy playing, coloring, singing, dancing, and watching Elmo. Timmy is five months old now! Where has the time gone? He is almost sitting up on his own. He has a great sense of humor and laughs at his sisters antics. He is also finally getting better at sleeping (we hope). For three nights in a row he has slept 6 hours before waking and then has gone back down easily. This is a HUGE improvement over his sleep patterns before. We have yet to experience sleeping through the night, but we hold out hope it's coming soon.

Here is Kristen creating a Valentine's card for her buddy David.
A picture of the inside of the card
As you can see making Valentine's cards is a blast
While organizing my closet to get the house ready I came across my veil. Kristen loved wearing it. Please excuse the not very good pictures, I only stopped long enough to snap a few and none of them turned out that well.
Here she is admiring herself in the mirror

Kristen loves to sing Ram Sam Sam and do the hand motions that go along with it. Here she is showing Timmy how to do it. She loves to play with him.

Timmy Eats!

A few weeks ago we started feeding Timmy solids. He is quite the messy eater, but he enjoys his food very much. I have been making the food at home and it surprisingly easy to do. I didn't make Kristen's baby food because I was so overwhelmed with how much work I thought it would be, but I decided to give it a try this time and I find it very rewarding. So far he has had rice cereal, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, and pumpkin. I have pears, apples, and green beans prepped for him to try soon too. And if you are wondering, his favorite so far is pumpkin, in a landslide.

Kristen enjoys feeding him too. I don't let her help with the solids since I can't bear the thought of that much mess to clean up, but she loves to help with his bottles.

He somehow managed to get some on the bottom of his foot!
Here he is right after eating his favorite pumpkin. He makes the biggest mess when I feed him pumpkin because he gets so entusiastic he starts diving for the bowl.
But he sure is cute when he's messy.

The Renaissance Festival

Last Saturday we decided to take a trip to the Arizona Renaissance Festival. Michael and I went there on one of earliest dates almost five years ago. The weather was gorgeous and we had a blast. Kristen was initially freaked out by all of the costumes, but by the end of the day she wasn't fazed at all. The day was full of adventures. Kristen rode in a human powered butterfly ride. We watched a joust. We feasted on huge turkey legs. We watched several shows. We visited a petting zoo (where Kristen was most fascinated by the dog, go figure). It was quite the exciting day. Unfortunately, we didn't take nearly as many pictures as we should have, these few will have to do.

Despite her face she really did enjoy it and wanted to go on it again.

Doesn't she look cute?
